The graphic genius behind Crass is showing her works there until May 3rd and seeing this level of hyper-realism up close is a rare privilege.
Did you know the entire Crass catalog came from one tiny tube of black paint? She dilutes it so much and uses such soft grays that she only needs the tiniest drop per painting. I tried to buy said tube off her once but she’s not into selling stuff. In fact, at the Gavin Brown show in New York the pieces were either not for sale at all or several hundred thousand dollars (AKA not for sale either). There will be new stuff there for sale but if she gets drunk and actually offers to sell some of the old Crass shit please buy it for us. We’ll pay you back.
