Read something on HotAir about this today. Violent crime is down and gun sales are up. They think the two are related but they didn’t factor in arrests. If incarceration is up, it could also be why crime is down.

And to Gavin. Incarceration is up. It was also up when gun sales were down and gun control laws were up and crime was up, see also the 90′s. Every state that got rid of useless gun control laws saw a much faster rate of crime decline that ones with strict gun control laws.
DC and Chicago are great examples og how well gun control works.
DC has a virtual ban, and Chicago has an actual ban (despite 2 SCOTUS rulings) and yet they still lead the nation in crime AND GUN CRIME.

I’ve carried a Glock 19 concealed everyday for the past 6 years, and have somehow managed not to menace or kill anyone with it. Similarly, I’ve managed to avoid becoming overweight, despite the easy availability of larger than 16oz sodas.

This presumption is great, because it allows us all to avoid confrontation and remain perpetual children, which is clearly what we all desire in the long run

Chicago doesn’t allow handgun ownership yet their murder rate is up 37% in 2012. Guess the “violence interrupters” aren’t working out.
